About Furniture Moving

Moving furniture; it doesn’t have to be such a difficult task. But before you jump in with both feet, there are a few things you should think about. Are you, for example, physically fit enough to lift and move furniture? Are you able to move furniture without damaging it, hurting yourself, or harming others around you? How are you going to move your furniture? Have you got an appropriate vehicle for transporting things in safety? You’ll need to consider many more things before you take on the heavy lifting and attempt to move furniture without professional help.

Assess the situation
First of all, where are you moving to and from? Are you relocating to a new office? Are you moving to a new house a few suburbs over or are you moving further away? You must factor in not only distance but also the physical requirements for the job. If you’re moving into a new office for instance, it’s not advised for you to lift and move furniture up and down stairs and through narrow doorways without professional help. You’re more than likely to end up with more damage to personal belongings, which will cost you far more in the long run.

If you’re moving only a short distance and you believe that you can attempt the move yourself, then that might be the right choice for you; but only if you won’t hire professional help and remember, you must ensure the highest degree of safety at all times.

Trickier items
Using a professional service for trickier items really should be non-negotiable. I’m talking about items like pianos here; items that require a high level of professional skill to move without causing damage. Shifting furniture – and especially pianos for that matter – is a delicate art, and a small twist or turn could send everything into chaos. With these items in particular, let professionals handle the heavy lifting.

Everything else
Organise everything early. The earlier you have everything packed up, the easier moving day will be. Clear out your boxes so that the path for your furniture is unimpeded. Leave furniture until last. The smoother the surface you have to move over is, the easier moving the furniture will be. Dragging a bookshelf for a certain amount of time for instance is going to be far more difficult if you have to transition from tiles to a rug and back again. Eliminate this extra hassle and move everything else out before you move your furniture.

Tips Moving to Another State

Moving is stressful and even more so when you’re moving out of state to a community that’s unfamiliar. Planning ahead can make your move a smoother transition. Here are some tips for moving out of state.

The number one reason most people move out of state is for a job offer or job transfer. But there are still some folks who just want a change of scenery or pace. If you fall into the “change of scenery” category, you’ll want to research your career field before moving. Job security is crucial and you’ll want to secure your next position or at least have many interviews lined up before you start packing. Finding the right job takes time so save enough money to live without a steady cash flow for a few months in the event that you don’t find a job right away.

Timing is everything. It’s better to earn your college degree or job certification first before moving out of state. The last thing you want to do after earning three years of college credit is make a transfer to an out of state school that won’t accept any of your classes, wasting all your time, money and efforts spent so far. If you’re in the middle of earning your college degree, make sure your classes will transfer before moving out of state.

Another money saving tip is purchasing affordable furniture in your new state. Hiring movers can be fairly expensive. Living with a few essential furniture pieces for a couple of months in your new place allows you to see how you’re using its space. And it’s a lot less expensive to move furniture from a store that’s a few miles away rather than from a residence that’s hundreds of miles away. Having friends or family to help you move will also save you money and because they know and care about you, they will be more careful with your furniture, can help you paint rooms and help with other tasks to get you settled.

Moving Tips – How to Move Safely

Moving via the interstate or moving to a new location within city limits is a unique experience. For many people this is an event of uncertainty and possible stress. Regardless of the scale of your load or distance of your move, you need to know how to plan any move with care. You might end up paying more than you should just because you didn’t know the best moving tips.

I remember when I made a permanent move from Melbourne to Sydney, I sold my household belongings and drove my car because that was the most cost effective way I could accomplish my move to my new place in Australia.

There are many options when planning your move.

Some of my tips are:

1. Make sure you can handle the move safely. This is a priority.
2. Decide the economics of the move.
3. Decide the how much you are required to move. Weigh the options of the physical move. You can sell some, most or all of your household belongings to affect
the impact of the move.
4. Include others in your move. You can handle the move yourself, ask others to help, hire a company to do some of the work or hire a company to do all of the work.

The decision of whether to hire a moving company for your move depends on the time, money and effort you are willing and able to spend on your move.

Another option for you would be to hire a back loading service provided through the moving companies. Back loading is a service moving company offers where you only pay for the space your boxes takes on a van or a truck in one direction. This option lets you put your boxes into the back of a removal van, which is already scheduled to go to your destination.
